The UW-Whitewater Department of World Languages & Cultures is housed in the College of Letters and Sciences. The department offers programs in World Languages & Cultures, including American Sign Language (ASL), Arabic, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. The World Language & Cultures programs support other programs and serve the general student population in fulfilling BA or other language requirements.

Compensation:

Well-qualified candidates can expect a minimum starting annual salary of $50,000 commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Japanese language or an area closely related
• Native Japanese speakers preferred; native or near-native proficiency in Japanese required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Japanese language or an area closely related
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate students and a dedication to working with diverse populations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
• Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.

ORGANIZATION INFORMATION:

Wisconsin Statute 19.36(7)(b) provides that applicants may indicate in writing that their identity should be kept confidential.
