Position Description
The Department of Hospitality, Event and Tourism Management (HETM) in the G. Brint Ryan College of Business at the University of North Texas invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Event Design and Experience Management or a closely aligned field, with a proposed start date of January 16, 2027.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Department Chair and faculty to deliver an innovative curriculum that incorporates current technology, contemporary industry practices, and best practices for onsite and virtual events. The faculty member will contribute to enhancing the undergraduate student experience, growing program enrollment, strengthening industry connections, and leading signature student-led events that showcase the Department while preparing students for careers in the event management industry.
Primary responsibilities include:
Teaching undergraduate courses primarily within the Event Design and Experience Management curriculum, as well as appropriate courses in Hospitality Management.
Teaching graduate courses when qualifications, including possession of a terminal degree, permit. Leading and executing signature student-led events that provide applied learning opportunities and represent the Department in an exceptional manner. Incorporating current event technologies, industry practices, and emerging trends into courses and experiential learning activities. Developing and maintaining partnerships with event, hospitality, tourism, and related industry organizations to support class projects, events, internships, employment opportunities, and other forms of student engagement. Supporting student recruitment, retention, and enrollment growth. Mentoring students and supporting relevant student groups and organizations, as appropriate. Participating in Department, College, and University committees and other service activities. Collaborating with internal and external partners on academic, industry, and experiential initiatives. Leading or participating in student study tours and other experiential learning activities. The primary teaching location will be the UNT Denton campus, with teaching at the UNT Frisco campus as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Earned master’s degree in Event Management, Hospitality Management, Hospitality Administration, or a closely aligned field. Consideration will also be given to candidates with a master’s degree in a related field who can demonstrate appropriate graduate coursework in event management or hospitality. At least three years of professional event management industry experience. Excellent teaching skills. Excellent communication skills. Clear commitment to students and the missions of higher education. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with industry partners, particularly event-related organizations, for the benefit of the College and students. Industry experience and professional connections within events, hospitality, clubs, resorts, tourism, attractions, or related sectors. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member while demonstrating leadership, integrity, and collegiality. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Knowledge of and professional connections with event-related industry organizations such as PCMA, MPI, IAEE, or similar associations. Current event-related industry certification such as Certified Meeting Professional, Certified in Exhibition Management, or a comparable professional credential. Previous experience planning and executing events, particularly corporate, association, convention, exhibition, or fundraising events. Experience with online, hybrid, or web-based course development and delivery. Experience using event technologies and emerging industry practices in professional or educational settings.
