The University of Reading School of Law wishes to appoint an outstanding Lecturer in Criminal Law to further enhance our academic faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic community with a global outlook and a focus on academic excellence. Successful candidates will conduct research which enhances the research reputation of the School (in the latest Research Excellence Framework we doubled our percentage of 4* outputs and 99% of our research was judged to be world leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised). The successful applicant will also take an appropriate role in the ambitious teaching and learning agenda of the School of Law, as well as the wider aspects of the student experience.
You will have:
- A relevant degree;
- A PhD (completed or very near to completion);
- A record of research outputs appropriate to stage of career;
- Specialist research subject knowledge in Criminal Law;
- Effective pedagogical and academic skills in teaching and tutoring;
- An ability to teach UG & PG students in Criminal Law;
- An ability to conduct high quality (4* and 3* REF) research;
- Appropriate interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- The ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team, including working to deadlines and maintenance of appropriate documentation;
- Effective administration skills;
- Ability to lead curriculum development and/or student experience initiatives.
- Experience of teaching law (or an equivalent discipline) at University level;
- Experience of academic administration or wider contributions to academic life;
- Experience of pastoral role
- A well developed 5 year research plan;
- Enthusiastic, reliable, resourceful, flexible disposition;
- A willingness to play a significant role in the everyday life of the Law School.
