"LEO Lecturer I"

ARTDES 177: Students learn the jewelry and metalsmithing techniques to create their own jewelry and small metal objects. Designing, sawing, piercing, soldering, forming, stone setting and finishing are covered in this course. Emphasis is placed on mastering craft, solving problems, and developing innovative designs. Students will have 24-hour access to the studio and will need to work outside of class to complete the course work.

ARTDES 307: In this course, students explore casting, die making and digital processes designed to accurately reproduce multiple elements. They expand their skill sets to create innovative jewelry and small objects that use compelling forms, patterns and integrated mechanisms in their design. Students deepen their understanding of the significance of historical and contemporary artifacts and processes to further inform their own work.

Master's degree in art, design, or comparable field.

Minimum 1 year college-level teaching experience.

Demonstrated ability to teach, provide experiences for, and oversee students in their development of the skills, vocabulary, and understanding of the principles and cultural context described in each of the course descriptions.

Record of active creative work, scholarship, research and/or industry or other relevant professional engagement.

Ability to assess student work in a timely and effective manner.

The University of Michigan resides on the ancestral, traditional, and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabeg - The Three Fire Confederacy of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations, as well as the Wyandot Nation. This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
