Job Description:
CityU's Library provides programs and services that support academic success and engagement for our diverse student population, both online and in person. We are seeking a Librarian to join our team and support students, faculty, and staff through reference services, information literacy instruction, collection development, and library outreach.
This is a remote position with a primary focus on reference and instruction. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum, develop engaging online learning materials, and promote library resources and services across the university.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide general and specialized reference assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
- Design and deliver information literacy instruction in face-to-face and online environments.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy and library resources into courses and curricula.
- Develop and manage online library content using tools such as LMS platforms, Ex Libris Leganto, Springshare, and LibGuides.
- Select and maintain print and electronic library materials to support academic programs, courses, and research.
- Promote library resources and services to students, faculty, and staff.
- Participate in library and university committees, task forces, and other collaborative initiatives.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in academic librarianship and information literacy.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications

- ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science, or a foreign equivalent; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- At least two years of related professional experience.
- Experience providing reference services in an academic library environment.
- Experience designing and delivering library or information literacy instruction, preferably in an online environment.
- Knowledge of current trends and practices in information literacy instruction.
- Experience with collection development and maintenance.
- Strong organizational, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common technology tools.
