Mō te tūka | The role

We are seeking applications for a customer-focused Library Services Assistant to provide exceptional service at the Library Enquiries Desk. Based in Ivey Hall, this role supports students, staff, and visitors with library services, ID card provision, and short-term library projects.

This position is part of Learning, Teaching, and Library and plays a vital role in delivering an excellent library experience.

Some key tasks of the role include:

  • Assist with general enquiries, library website navigation, and resource access.
  • Issue and return materials, provide ID cards, and manage registrations.
  • Maintain a welcoming library environment, ensuring noise-free areas and tidy facilities.
  • Support library projects, including data entry, inventory work, and collection maintenance.

This is a fixed-term role from February - November 2026, working 15 hours per week (0.4 FTE) based at our Lincoln University Library. The salary is set at $58,500 per annum, pro-rata to part time hours (approx. $29.91/hr).

Kā tino Pūkeka/Whēako | Essential skills/experience for the role

You will have:

  • Studying towards a degree or other qualification at Lincoln University
  • At least one year's experience as a Student Assistant, preferably at Lincoln University
  • A basic knowledge of information technologies supported on campus, including Microsoft Office, EndNote, and student email, login procedures, access to Akoraka|Learn and Library database pages
  • Demonstrated commitment to Manaakitaka and Lincoln University values
