JOB TITLE: Licensed Counselor

SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Counseling Services, our Licensed Counselors contribute to Cornerstone's vision for "a thriving community of fully devoted followers of Christ" by providing direct counseling to students, serving in the on-call rotation for mental health emergencies, and assisting in intern supervision and training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.
Provide biblically faithful and ethically responsible counseling services in congruence with best practices and established guidelines.
- Coordinate with the Director of Counseling Services and the Counseling/Health Administrative Assistant to establish regular counseling hours and a consistent client load.
Maintain clear, comprehensive, and confidential case notes in compliance with counseling best practices and relevant HIPAA standards. Coordinate referrals for follow-up, if needed, in collaboration with the Director of Counseling Services. - Provide critical professional support for mental health emergencies as a member of the on-call rotation (schedule coordinated with the Director of Counseling Services and the VPSD).
- Participate in training and ensure familiarity with CU mental health emergency protocols and resources.
- Serve as the primary contact point for mental health emergencies during assigned on-call periods.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for area providers during assessment and hospitalizations of students.
- Serve as a collaborative partner with the Director of Counseling Services, the Director of Community Life, and the VPSD to coordinate re-entry to the campus community for students returning from hospitalizations.
- Assist the Director of Counseling in providing oversight and support for interns.
- Review case notes and provide supervision to develop early skills with practicum students.
- Monitor and ensure timely completion of clinical documentation for counseling interns.
- Participate in selected training and professional development events.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: - Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work with minimum of limited license for appropriate field.
- Demonstrated capacity and character for assistance/consultation in mental health emergencies.
- Love for students and proven ability to relationally connect with them.
- Proven discretion and capacity to maintain a high level of confidentiality, compliance with HIPAA and FERPA.
