Position Information:

The Licensed Psychologist provides direct clinical psychological service to the UCR students and in support of the campus community. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide direct clinical services to include individual, couples, and group therapy to all UCR registered students to include working with students from marginalized communities including first generation college students; Black/African American, Latinx, Undocumented, Indigenous/First Nations, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Multi-racial, and other students of color. This position provides crisis intervention services; consults with students, staff, and faculty; will at times serve as a supervisor for our APA accredited internship program; and serves on University committees, representing the CAPS department. The Licensed Psychologist may also serve as a liaison and provides outreach to various campus communities. A successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion with a deep commitment to supporting under-represented groups in our community from a trauma informed lens.

The full salary range for the Licensed Psychologist is $100,430.53 - $146,549.75 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $114,387.64 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Requirements:

Educational Requirements

  • Doctorate degree (Ph.D/Psy.D) in Clinical Psychology or related Psychology discipline - Required

Conditions

  • Maintain required continuing education for your professional license, including the specialized training needed to supervise interns. - Required
  • Focused study on Diversity and Inclusion and particularly work with underrepresented communities. - Preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4-7 years of clinical experience - Required
  • Credentialing Requirement: A minimum of one year with current employer - Required
  • 7+ years of clinical experience - Preferred
  • Experience working in a university setting - Preferred

License Requirements

  • Current, valid license to practice Psychology in California (or ability to gain licensure in CA prior to beginning work at UCR). Must maintain CA licensure through the Board of Psychology and maintain UCOP credentialing/privileging standards. - Required

Special Conditions

  • Telecommuting/Tele-Health Opportunities after probation is completed and continuing based on clinic need and maintenance of performance standards (currently up to two days working remote). - Required
  • In alignment with exempt work status, there may be occasional work beyond typical scheduled work week in cases of emergent situations, campus outreach, crisis response, and/or continuity of care for clients. - Required

Minimum Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of working with diverse populations including but not limited to African American, Asian American, Latino/Latina, international, first-generation, veterans, students with disabilities, and LGBTQ. Understanding of intersectionality and how it impacts the daily lives of students.
  • Thorough skills associated with conducting complex diagnosis, problem-solving and critical-thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use interpersonal skills while representing the department on campus and to external units
  • Ability to conduct complex analysis and develop and present recommendations and course of treatment.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with diverse client group, members of the university staff and faculty.
  • Knowledge of electronic/medical records systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform trauma informed therapeutic services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • DIRECT CLINICAL SERVICES: Applies advanced concepts to provide counseling, clinical consultation and/or psychotherapy to clients in a time-limited model. Develops and communicates treatment plans, utilizing acquired knowledge and appropriate therapeutic tools, including conducting psychological assessment as needed, and provides therapeutic crisis intervention/management as needed. Develops treatment plans in collaboration with the client; provides trauma informed, crisis intervention services and supports the management of critical mental health crises on campus as required. Utilizes acquired expertise and knowledge of the impact of intersectionality, multiculturalism, diversity, equity and inclusion on psychological service delivery in a university setting. - 55%
  • APA ACCREDITED TRAINING PROGRAM PARTICIPATION: Actively participates in the UCR CAPS Pre-Doctoral Psychology Internship Program and in continuous professional development and training of interns. May include direct supervision of psychology interns clinical work, provision of didactic training, and service on training committee; support of intern psychological assessment activities; and general support of intern clinical needs. Will provide indirect support and supervision and mentorship to all interns. - 10%
  • CLINICAL DOCUMENTAION, CASE MANAGEMENT AND RELATED BUSINESS PROCESSES: Completes accurate and concise clinical documentation for all clinical contacts in compliance with ethical and professional standards, adheres to UCR Quality Assurance policies, and in compliance with UCR CAPS policies and procedures. Manages caseload appropriately and with consultation as needed. - 10%
  • SUPPORT AND EVALUATION FOR URGENT MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS: Support and evaluation of student mental health. Provides urgent and crisis walk-in/virtual walk-in services supporting students and UC Riverside community in crisis intervention, consultation and triage. Support of campus crises/challenges, including crisis debrief/postvention services and other related crisis support services. Support and evaluation for students requiring mental health hospitalization and follow up. Occasional support for other UC campuses per reciprocity within system. - 10%
  • OUTREACH AND EDUCATION SUPPORT: Provides outreach/ education, liaison services, committee representation and consultation services to UCR campus and community as a CAPS representative. Actively engages with supervisor and CAPS outreach coordinator in preparation, planning and participation in mental health related outreach programs, education and liaison work as well as in areas of specialty and in response to campus needs/requests. The percentage of time allocated to outreach activities may be adjusted throughout the year based on programmatic needs and outreach demand. In some cases, time allocated for outreach may be absorbed into direct service or other activity hours, depending on organizational priorities and workload distribution. - 10%
  • Other duties as assigned by CAPS leadership - 5%
