Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT I) - New Grads 2025 [Small Animal]

What you will do: Specific duties and job responsibilities will depend on the area of service you join. Providing care to patients according to hospital protocols and clinician orders. Phlebotomy and intravenous and urinary catheter placement. Administer medication accurately at the correct dilution and rate and via the correct route. Monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia and following surgical or diagnostic procedures. Proper use of various monitoring equipment such as pulse oximetry, ECG, and non-invasive blood pressure monitors. Advising, guiding and supporting DVM students throughout your shift. Continue to develop basic and advanced clinical skills.

The Cornell University Companion Animal Hospital provides round-the-clock care for small animals 365 days of the year. Our LVTs provide exceptional patient experiences during: Daytime, Evenings (includes shift differential pay), Nights (includes shift differential pay), Weekends, Holidays (includes generous holiday pay). Current open technician schedules will include evening, overnight, weekend and holiday shifts.
What are the qualifications? Associate degrees from an AVMA accredited institution, expected to obtain NYS licensure within 3 months; up to 1 year relevant experience or equivalent combination. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Interest in on-going career growth and advanced skill development.
