Job Overview
Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) seeks a Licensed Veterinary Technician or Radiology Technician to work in our Imaging section. As a valuable member of our eight-technician, eight-house officer, eight-faculty section, you will image large and small animal patients guiding students and house officers on technical learning. As you grow, expect to learn diagnostic modalities beyond radiography.

Job Responsibilities
- Work with board-certified veterinary radiologists and residents in teaching image acquisition and quality control to our DVM students.
- Attain high quality radiographs on a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, sheep, pigs and exotic pets like rabbits and bearded dragons.
- Ability to acquire the technical skills of non-radiographic modalities including nuclear medicine, CT and MRI, as your veterinary radiography skills mature.
- Complete imaging orders and manage PACS for our busy caseload including ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI, nuclear medicine scans and I-131 cats.
- Work with our two full-time biomedical engineers to maintain and replace diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Shape the future of veterinary care and education through collaboration with other specialty services while working with a range of patients and disease processes.
Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA accredited program or an associate degree and ARRT certification and 1-3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- NYS licensure or eligible to be licensed required.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including, but not limited to, stressful situations, prolonged standing and kneeling, lifting and restraining animals that may exceed 50 lbs., and may need to work for long periods of time with arms extended.
- Willingness to learn and feel comfortable handling large animals (horses, cows, pigs, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- LVT/RT with horse or cow handling experience highly desirable
Important Details
This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY. We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position. The majority of our teaching and routine care for this role occurs during the day. Other hours, as determined by caseload and need, to include weekends (includes shift differential) and holidays (includes generous holiday pay) may be required.
