Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT II) - Sports Med and Rehabilitation

We are seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician who will be responsible for patient care and client support for the Sports Medicine & Physical Rehabilitation Service (SMPR).
The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting veterinarians with the preparation and management of service flow
- Client interaction, which includes handling, monitoring, and discharging patients.
- Provide instruction to veterinary students, interns and occasionally residents, in technical skills and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, students, and clinicians
- Coordinate patient flow, assuring cases receive efficient, quality care throughout their entire visit.
- Assist with scheduling, set-up and completion of all nursing care and procedures needed by patients using auxiliary services throughout CUHA.
Employees working in the laboratory must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from an AVMA/CVTEA accredited institution approved by the NYS Department of Education with at least 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- NYS licensure or eligibility to be licensed.
- Knowledge of basic infection control practices and the ability to adhere to and enforce those practices.
- Experience in the use of various disinfectants and proper procedures.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must communicate well with others in a timely and professional manner
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and often demanding environment, while paying close attention to details and demonstrating a high level of initiative.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position including the ability to move/lift 50 lbs. or more with assistance, the ability to stand for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to kneel and remain in a steady position during procedures or treatment of animals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience as a licensed veterinary technician, familiar with sports medicine and physical rehabilitation.
Important Details about the Position
- This is an onsite position located in Ithaca, NY.
- We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
- Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.
While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
