The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine (PACCM) is comprised of a team of outstanding clinicians, scientists, and scholars dedicated to improving the lives of patients with serious lung disease. Our goal is to provide outstanding clinical and research training to the next generation of leaders in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. We are committed to strong clinical investigations including the evaluation of new pharmacologic agents, which offer potentially promising therapeutic benefits, as well as outcome studies which characterize clinical parameters to effect positive changes in patient care. This is a 1-year fixed-term position.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
- Plan approach to experiments in support of research projects inlab and/or field based on knowledge of scientific theory.
- Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records ofexperiments and outcomes.
- Apply the theories and methods of a life science discipline tointerpret and perform analyses of experiment results; offer suggestionsregarding modifications to procedures and protocols in collaborationwith senior researcher.
- Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with newprocedures and apply learnings to related research.
- Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate inthe preparation of written documents, including procedures,presentations, and proposals.
- Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock,manage chemical inventory and safety records, and provide general labsupport as needed.
- Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students onlab procedures or techniques.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in related scientific field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- General understanding of scientific principles. Demonstratedperformance to use knowledge and skills when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge of scienceprincipals to problem solve work.
- Ability to maintain detailed records of experiments andoutcomes.
- General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and mastercomputer programs, databases, and scientific applications.
- Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability toaccurately complete detailed work.
