"Lifeguard"

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Vassar College invites applications for the position of Lifeguard. Weekend, holiday, early morning and/or late evening hours are required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall safety of all patrons in the pool area. Job responsibilities include:

• Arriving promptly each day for scheduled shift
• Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout shift
• Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions
• Maintaining a clean pool environment
• Enforcing rules to ensure all patrons are safe
• Act as a first responder in the events of an emergency in the pool

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Current Lifeguard certification
• CPR and First Aid certifications
• Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of lifeguard experience
