Limited-Term Appointment in Bachelor of Education Program
The Faculty of Education at Western University invites applications from Indigenous candidates for a non-renewable two-year limited-term appointment in any teachable area of the Bachelor of Education Program. This appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, based on qualifications and experience, with an effective date as early as January 1, 2026. The workload for Assistant Professor rank is 80% teaching, 10% educational scholarship/research, and 10% service; for Lecturer rank, it is 90% teaching and 10% service.
Selection is limited to applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, or Inuit). Candidates must complete the Western Application form for Indigenous Scholar and may undergo an identity affirmation process through the Office of Indigenous Initiatives (https://indigenous.uwo.ca).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Education with qualifications in teachable areas;
- Completed Master’s degree;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Proven record of excellence in post-secondary teaching;
- Evidence of teaching in K-12.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In progress or completed PhD;
- Experience in conflict resolution;
- Experience teaching in higher education, including Additional Qualifications.
Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in the Bachelor of Education program, either in person or online;
- Meet with students regularly;
- Advise students in the teacher education program;
- Participate in program governance and university services;
- Engage in professional associations;
- Participate in scholarship/research if applicable;
- Attend in-person service commitments.
