The Health Professions Department offers a broad range of academic pathways that cater to diverse interests, spanning from direct patient care to fitness and sport-centered careers. Core programs such as nursing, dental hygiene, and health sciences are complemented by specialized options including exercise science, personal training and entrepreneurship, and sport management.
Position Description
Limited-Term Instructors are full-time faculty hired on a semester-to-semester basis. After the first semester, the position is renewable for a maximum of three semesters.
The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching a full instructional load of foundational Kinesiology and Health courses across multiple modalities. Courses include Anatomy and Physiology in Kinesiology and Health, Medical Terminology, Introduction to Kinesiology and Health, and other foundational offerings within the discipline.
Faculty are expected to provide meaningful academic support, foster an engaging learning environment, and collaborate effectively with colleagues to promote student success.
Required Education
To qualify to teach Kinesiology and Health a minimum of a Master’s degree in the Exercise Science discipline is required in the teaching discipline or a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate hours in relevant coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment).
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Teaching experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to teach Kinesiology and Health classes at the collegiate level
- Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students, and facilitate student learning.
- Effective communication skills needed
- Excellent organizational and teaching skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology is required
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations, etc
Personal Trainer Certification preferred
Job Duties
- Teach assigned courses across multiple modalities, including on-campus, online, and simulcast formats
- Deliver engaging, student-centered instruction aligned with established course learning outcomes
- Teach a full instructional load of 18 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters
- Provide academic support and mentoring to promote student success
- Hold regular office hours and respond to student inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain current grade records within the learning management system
- Ensure course materials are well-organized, accessible, and meet established accessibility standards
- Collaborate effectively with faculty and staff to support departmental and institutional goals
- Submit all required university and department materials in accordance with established deadlines
