This programme prepares DS student for research, development, artistic and teaching work within the scope of:
- academic competences;
- specialist competences;
- social competences.
The School supports:
- interdisciplinary activities and projects;
- PhD students' mobility and making contacts in Poland and abroad through enabling PhD students' participation in exchange programmes and conferences, also international;
- carrying out research and artistic activities, also outside the particular University or research unit;
- academic or artistic cooperation within the frames of research teams, also international;
- participation in summer schools and other programmes or courses (also on-line) that develop academic, artistic, didactic, and social skills.

- Contemporary francophone literature
- Correspondence of arts and comparatism
- Intertextuality, postmodernism, literary games
- 20th-century drama and theater
- Borderland as a cultural category (borderlands)
- Polish émigré literature after World War II (Marian Pankowski, Kalman Segal)

General requirements
PhD topics may include Polish, English, Russian, Spanish, French, Italian, or German literature; comparative and interdisciplinary literary studies; theory; translation; anthropology of literature; theatre; or didactics. The competitive recruitment process includes:
- a research proposal (0–15 pts, max. 11,000 characters w/spaces, in Polish or English) assessed for originality, methodology, and feasibility;
- an interview (0–20 pts) evaluating project justification, disciplinary knowledge, and discussion skills;
- academic or literary activity in the last 5 years (0–7 pts) including publications, conferences, internships, or promotion of literature. Documentation required.
Work experience
An eligible candidate for the Doctoral School in History must hold a Master's degree or an equivalent degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences.
An eligible candidate must present a written consent of the potential supervisor from among the persons included in the list of supervisors on the UKEN Doctoral School website or another UKEN employee holding a professorial or postdoctoral degree.
Tuition Fees
The Doctoral School at the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow is tuition-free for all, irrespective of country of origin.
