Job Description:

  • Employment Type: Full time (35 hours per week) permanent role
  • Remuneration: From $113k + leave loading and 17% super (dependent on experience level)
  • Location: Kensington, NSW (Hybrid Working)

Why Your Role Matters:

Join the Commercial & Real Estate team within the UNSW Legal & Compliance Office, which supports the University across disputes and litigation, as well as legal matters spanning general corporate and commercial work, construction and property.

We’re seeking a skilled litigator to lead the resolution of disputes, including managing litigation for the University and representing in a range of Courts and Tribunals. You’ll benefit from the guidance and mentorship of senior lawyers and assist and advise on an expansive range of matters, partnering proactively with clients to deliver effective legal solutions and broaden your experience across the portfolio.

Your day to day will include:

  • Partnering with our colleagues in the University to provide sound legal advice in a solution-focused, timely and effective manner
  • Advising on and managing the University to resolve legal disputes
  • Managing the University’s timely response to subpoenas and other legal processes
  • Representing the University in a range of Courts and Tribunals
  • Assisting with the development and delivery of legal training programs and projects
  • Contributing to a range of commercial and contractual matters as part of the general work of the team, diversifying professional experience.

Who you are:

You will hold a tertiary qualification in law with 2+ years’ post-qualification experience in disputes/litigation (preferably across areas of general commercial dispute resolution, administrative and defamation law experience) alongside:

  • Admission to the Supreme Court of NSW and a current practicing certificate
  • A collegiate and client-centric approach
  • A flexible and adaptable attitude with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills alongside strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • An analytical and problem-solving mind with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
