Livestock Judging Team Coach
Job Summary
The Department of Animal Sciences at Auburn University is seeking applications for the position of Livestock Judging Team Coach. Reporting to the Department Head of Animal Sciences, the Livestock Judging Team Coach will oversee the Auburn University College of Agriculture’s Livestock Judging Team and will manage all aspects of team recruitment, training, and competition.

Essential Functions
- Oversees the Livestock Judging Team to include recruiting, team practices, travel arrangements, and competitions.
- Responsible for teaching introductory and advanced livestock evaluation and judging.
- Develops budgets in support of team practice, team travel, and team competitions.
- Develops funding opportunities through community, industry, and donor relations.
- Works closely with departmental academic advisors and faculty, and mentors undergraduate students. Ensures all students participating in Livestock Judging Team activities are in good academic standing at all times while engaged with the team, regardless of their competition status.
- Contributes to the needs of the department, the College of Agriculture, and Auburn University. Follows all University policies and procedures.
- Supports and delivers livestock evaluation and judging contests for youth in support of state-wide youth programming in the Department of Animal Sciences and the College of Agriculture.
- Develops and facilitates educational/informational programs and workshops in support of state, regional and national judging activities.
- Trains students, faculty, and staff on livestock evaluation and supports the undergraduate curriculum in the Department of Animal Sciences with expertise in livestock evaluation.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and time-management skills to balance team travel, practice schedules, and program responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture degree emphasizing food animals, or closely related field and one year of experience in Livestock Judging required; Previous experience coaching a Livestock Judging Team at the collegiate level as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach required.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications: Upon hiring, must maintain active membership in the Professional Livestock Judges/Coaches Association representing the Department of Animal Sciences, the College of Agriculture, and Auburn University in the profession.

- Demonstrated success in livestock judging at the collegiate or national level, with proven ability to coach and develop competitive teams.
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and advising undergraduate students, with a focus on student development and career readiness.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and livestock industry partners in support of program growth.
