LMS Content Specialist (Temporary)

What We Are Looking For

Reporting to the Assistant Directors of Learning Design, the LMS Content Specialist is an active member of the Learning Technologies' (LT) Learning Design Team and works in close collaboration with the Learning Design leadership team, Learning Experience Designers (LXDs), faculty, and other key stakeholders to design and develop high quality student-centered courses in support of multi modal learning. This position will also manage a team of student workers to distribute tasks in support of course development for an entire team of LXDs. Further, they will co-facilitate faculty development alongside faculty and LD colleagues.

This is a fully remote, temporary 2-year assignment.

The successful candidate demonstrates expertise in building courses in a Learning Management System. The successful candidate actively manages multiple projects concurrently and can move projects with many stakeholders involved forward while effectively meeting quality and timeline deliverables. The successful candidate adheres to OLC OSCQR quality standards and showcases competency in effectively organizing digital content using learner-centered design principles. The Content Developer is well-versed in the application of pertinent technology tools to support instruction in the online learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience are required. A Master's degree and three years of relevant work experience are preferred
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with the Learning Design leadership team, Learning Experience Designers (LXDs), faculty, and other key stakeholders to develop, edit, publish and curate course materials (content templates, images, multimedia, web resources, and electronic library materials) in the Canvas Learning Management System
  • Lead the quality assurance process of faculty provided content as an iterative process both before and after course development
  • Play a key role in ensuring content accessibility to meet or exceed compliance with federal standards
  • Manage a team of student workers to distribute tasks in support of course development for an entire team of LXDs, to include all administrative tasks related to HR compliance and record keeping (such as time card submission and departmental budget forecasting spreadsheets)
  • Train and guide student workers on course development components, such as software training to meet accessibility standards
  • Facilitate professional development provided by Learning Design for faculty and graduate students
  • Lead synchronous sessions, provide student feedback, grades, send regular communication and update content using an iterative approach toward continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and research technology needs to enhance the learning experience and provide recommendations supported by best practices to faculty
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $50,000 - $54,000. The full salary range for this position classification is $42,974.63 - $70,908.14.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certification, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
