Machine Operator
Job Summary
Reporting to the Lead Groundskeeper, the Machine Operator is responsible for maintaining the grounds of an assigned portion of the campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Cuts lawns, trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls
- Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth; removes damaged leaves, branches, or twigs
- Cleans grounds and removes litter
- Plants trees and shrubs
- Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts
- Operates front-end loader and backhoe
- Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower and spreader
Service Excellence
- Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the work site
- Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
- Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision
Works under the general supervision of the Lead Groundskeeper

Required Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- One (1) year's working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skilled with operating motor driven equipment and mechanically inclined
- Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described here are representatives of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
