In your role as a warehouse employee, you work daily in the warehouse (28,000 m²) processing orders carefully. You retrieve works from our unique collection based on request slips to bring them to the lending desk for customers, and then return them neatly to their proper place. These include a wide variety of works from our collection of over 130 km of books and magazines. You handle these collection items with care to preserve them as long as possible.

Additionally, you are the warehouse employee who: works independently but involves colleagues; processes new acquisitions in Alma, the library management system; works solution-oriented for our customers; prepares collection items for digitization; and ensures sufficient stock of boxes using the box machine for repackaging collection items.

You work in a unique environment at the KB, the national library of the Netherlands, a preservation library. The warehouse is kept at 18 degrees with no daylight to protect the collections. Strict safety rules must be followed for you, your colleagues, and the collections.

We are looking for someone with: experience in a warehouse (2 years); digital skills (registration proficiency); basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and OneNote; ability to work carefully with unique collection objects in an environment with repetitive tasks; ability to work quickly while maintaining quality; collegiality and a friendly collaborative style; proficiency in Dutch; and accuracy in reading numbers quickly and correctly.

Benefits include: a gross monthly salary between €2,847 and €3,378 (scale 5); an initial 1-year contract, extendable to a maximum of 3 years; 42 vacation days; 100% reimbursement of public transport costs; pension build-up via ABP (KB pays 70% of the premium); and a thirteenth month (8.33%).
