Overview of the role:

We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to join our Facilities team at DPAG. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong all-round building maintenance experience and proven supervisory ability.

You will lead a small team, ensuring reactive and planned maintenance tasks are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. The role is key to maintaining a safe, fully operational environment for staff, students, and researchers. You will also support minor works and coordinate external contractors where required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a small maintenance team, allocating work and monitoring performance
  • Plan and coordinate reactive and planned maintenance activities
  • Carry out and oversee general building maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and ensure timely resolution
  • Monitor building systems
  • Coordinate contractors and liaise with Estates Services
  • Support minor refurbishment and improvement projects
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety compliance
  • Deliver a responsive, professional service to a wide range of stakeholders

Selection criteria:

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification (e.g. City & Guilds) in building/property maintenance or similar
  • Proven experience in general building maintenance and fault finding
  • Experience supervising a team
  • Good knowledge of building systems and maintenance practices
  • Understanding of UK health and safety legislation
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Competent IT skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in a university, laboratory, healthcare, or similar environment
  • Experience managing contractors and small projects
  • Familiarity with facilities management systems (e.g. PLANON)
  • Health and safety qualification (e.g. IOSH)
