Position Summary Information
Summary
Performs a wide range of facilities services tasks including technical maintenance of structural, plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning facilities and equipment, at a level not requiring formal licensure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Monitor and perform carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window replacement, cabinet and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, door and hardware installation, and painting interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
- Perform and assist, in non-technical maintenance, installation, and repair to buildings and equipment in construction and mechanical trades including plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical, masonry, metal work, glazing, tile work, roofing, flooring, ventilating systems, welding, and mechanics.
- Make routine and emergency repairs and adjustments to campus buildings and facilities.
- Applies finishes to a variety of surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, stucco, wallboard, brick, and cement.
- Perform general maintenance of plumbing systems, to include standard repairs of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing pipe systems, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems; assists licensed plumbing contractors, as required
- Perform standard repairs to building electrical facilities and systems, such as lamps, fixtures, switches, photo call and outlets; assist licensed electrical contractors with non-technical repairs and installations as required.
- May perform general custodial and janitorial tasks as required.
- May repair, service, or replace appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, ranges, dishwashers, and other equipment,
- Ensure careful use, proper maintenance of, repairs to, and proper operations of equipment such as spartan snakes, dehumidifiers, floor fans, extractors, and power and hand tools.
- Assist with moving heavy furniture, equipment, and materials as assigned.
- Follow department policies and procedures to complete maintenance requests through the University work order systems. Have the ability to access the work order systems through the use of a tablet while ensuring proper updates and documentation are recorded throughout the work order process.
- Request parts and supplies as needed for tasks, including parts pick up at local vendors.
- Attend regular safety meetings and work in a safe manner. Participate in and complete training programs determined necessary by OSHA, CalOSHA, and the EPA which promote safe and healthy environments.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could be responsible for working with outside contractors.
Education and/or Experience
Vocational / technical training in a directly related craft area with 3 or more years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
