Job Description

PURPOSE
The Maintenance Technician for Islander Housing at Texas
A&M-Corpus Christi is responsible for performing repairs and
maintenance on university housing facilities, including residence
halls and apartment-style living units. The technician will work
under the direction of the Facilities Director to ensure that all
facilities are in good condition.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Administrative
Percent Effort: 90%
- Perform regular preventative maintenance and repairs on
residential facilities, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing,
painting, HVAC, and other systems.
Respond to resident requests for maintenance or repairs in a
timely and efficient manner.
Use of ladders and small lifts.
Conduct regular inspections of residential units to identify
and address potential maintenance issues before they become larger
problems.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair
work completed.
Work with contractors and vendors as needed to complete larger
maintenance projects.
Operate a TAMUCC vehicle and/or golf cart to navigate to and
from worksites.
Functional Area 2: Other
Percent Effort: 10%
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities
Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of related experience in building
maintenance.
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other
building systems.
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other
building systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact
professionally with residents, staff, and contractors.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced
environment.
- Willingness to work on-call and after hours as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work in cramped
or awkward positions for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical
infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer
networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid,
hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Additional education or training in maintenance or construction
fields preferred.
- Previous experience in building maintenance in a university or
other large residential setting is preferred.
SALARY: up to $17.50/hourly
- up to $36,400/annually, approximately
