Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker III provides journeyman-level skills in plumbing, electrical maintenance/repair, carpentry, or painting. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with specifications and safety regulations, inspecting completed work, maintaining records, and submitting reports.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides journeyman-level maintenance and repair work of plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
- Provides journeyman level skills in the performance of a variety of maintenance tasks to include installing, maintaining and repairing electrical motors and switches, circuit breakers, outlets, fixtures, fittings and accessories; installation and repair of plumbing in new construction or remodeling; stains and refinishes furniture, and performs other general carpentry work connected with remodeling and construction; prepares surfaces prior to applying any variety of coverings; taping, floating sheetrock joints, and other conditioning work in connection with new construction or remodeling.
- Inspects completed work for conformance to all specifications and regulations; maintains daily records of work performed; cross-trains with various shops; and reports need for specific repairs to supervisors.
- Submits reports on the status and costs of maintenance projects.
- Serves in an on-call maintenance capacity to support after-hours and weekend operational needs.
- Provides supervision, guidance and training to maintenance workers I's and II's.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, Vocational Training or Apprenticeship in a related field.
- Five (5) years of related work experience.
+ Additional education may substitute for experience on a one year for one year basis. - This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
