Mammography/Breast Sonographer - TKC Mammography - AM (008)
Under the supervision of a radiologist, to provide patient services using diagnostic ultrasound for the use and interpretation of ultrasound procedures. To assist the radiologist in gathering sonographic data necessary to reach diagnostic decisions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs ultrasound exams efficiently while maintaining diagnostic quality set forth in department procedure manual. Demonstrates knowledge of ultrasound equipment pertinent to patients' needs. Ensures that all supplies are available and ultrasound equipment is functioning properly before exam begins.
- Provides mental and physical comfort to patient while in the Breast Ultrasound Department. Maintains accountability for a safe environment for patients and others. Displays a professional demeanor at all times to all patients and staff.
- Participates in professional growth activities. Attends in-service education meetings within department. Attends local, state or national meetings pertaining to ultrasound. Maintains a minimum of 30 CME credits per triennium as stated by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers for active status providing documentation to appropriate Imaging manager. Maintains a current certification in CPR.
- Participates in improvement endeavors. Identifies, investigates and communicates opportunities for process improvement through proper changes.
- Demonstrates an effective communication skills and responsibility for Patient Satisfaction. Ensures communication is shared in a timely and accurate manner and that the proper channels of communication are adhered to in a courteous and cooperative manner. Displays to the patient a concern for their comfort and privacy. Protects patients' rights and confidentiality.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree from an approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or Sonography. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Must be registry eligible in Breast Sonography or as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with ARDMS or ARRT. Registry eligible individuals must pass certification exam within one (1) year of the date of hire. CPR certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
