Job Description
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the cleanliness, presentation, and upkeep of NUS The Ridge, delivering consistent service standards for both guests and employees.
Operations Management
- Oversee housekeeping operations across guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and horticulture — encompassing cleaning schedules, inspections, and quality control.
- Manage inventory of supplies, linen, and amenities, ensuring effective use of RFID Linen and Linen Robot systems.
Staff Management
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping staff; plan work schedules and task assignments to ensure adequate coverage and productivity.
- Provide ongoing coaching and address performance issues or grievances promptly to sustain service excellence.
Linen Robot & RFID Linen Management
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linen Robot and RFID systems to support accurate linen distribution, collection, and inventory visibility.
- Train staff on system use, monitor data, and maintain records to improve compliance, reduce linen loss, and enhance operational efficiency.
Guest Satisfaction
- Respond to guest requests and complaints regarding housekeeping services, ensuring timely resolution.
- Liaise with the Front Office to accommodate special requests and maintain seamless communication.
Inventory Control
- Manage and monitor stock of cleaning supplies and linen, including ordering and supplier coordination.
- Conduct monthly inventory audits to ensure accuracy and support cost control.
Budget & Reporting
- Manage the housekeeping budget — covering labour, supplies, and equipment — identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Prepare regular reports on departmental performance, inventory usage, and maintenance issues.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and update housekeeping policies and procedures to uphold quality standards and meet health, safety, and hygiene requirements.
- Train staff on proper cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and equipment use; maintain documentation of safety protocols and incidents.
Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Front Office, and other departments to address maintenance needs and support events, special projects, and emergency situations.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or a related field, preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of managerial experience in housekeeping or a related hospitality function.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail and a commitment to high cleanliness standards.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills; able to engage professionally with guests and staff at all levels.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making abilities; comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Service-oriented mindset with a consistent focus on guest satisfaction.
- Proficiency in housekeeping management systems and general computer literacy.
- Working knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations relevant to housekeeping operations.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
