  • The position is full-time, on a continuing basis and based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas.
  • HEWL 9: $130,115 - $137,625 per annum, plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

JCU is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Manager, Identity Access Management to provide strategic leadership and expert oversight of the University’s IAM capability.

In this critical role, you will lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of IAM frameworks that enable secure, seamless, and compliant access to digital systems across the University. You will play a key role in strengthening our cyber security posture while enabling innovation and operational efficiency.

As Manager, Identity Access Management, you will:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of IAM tools and frameworks, embedding best-practice application security principles.
  • Develop and execute the IAM strategic roadmap, ensuring alignment with JCU’s cyber security strategy and compliance obligations.
  • Provide strategic oversight of IAM technologies, ensuring enforcement of university-wide cyber security policies.
  • Identify and mitigate application security and compliance risks, maintaining contemporary best practices and ensuring secure software development standards.
  • Coach and mentor stakeholders across the University to embed strong security practices and IAM governance.
  • Oversee IAM platforms, ensuring effective user lifecycle management including provisioning, transfers, and terminations.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (or bring equivalent hands-on experience), with additional certifications in security or identity viewed favourably.
  • Extensive experience in Identity and Access Management within large, complex organisations.
  • Proven capability in designing secure application architectures, integration models, and technical documentation.
  • Strong expertise in application security across web and mobile environments.
  • Experience using advanced security testing tools to enhance system integrity and resilience.
  • Demonstrated experience in database protection and cloud encryption technologies to safeguard sensitive information.
