Job Description
PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Manager III, Mental Health & Wellness Services HUB provides leadership and oversight for a multidisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed mental health professionals within the Mental Health and Wellness Services Department. This role ensures the effective delivery of clinical services, supports departmental planning and evaluation, and helps drive key performance outcomes. Responsibilities include staff supervision, providing or overseeing direct clinical services (e.g., counseling, crisis intervention, assessment), and supporting student, faculty, and staff wellness initiatives. The Clinical Manager also serves as a liaison to campus stakeholders in the Director's absence, coordinates after-hours/on-call coverage, and supports internship programs in collaboration with academic partners. This position plays a vital role in campus-wide mental health efforts and may be called upon during campus emergencies. Moderate travel between LSC locations is required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned team of clinicians and develops and modifies clinical workflows to ensure the delivery of high-quality mental health services
- Provides leadership, vision, and direction to the clinical team to support department goal while participating and leading an interdisciplinary team and collaborating with stakeholders
- Provides administrative supervision to clinical staff, including both licensed and unlicensed professionals in accordance with board guidelines
- Conducts hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations for clinical team members and delivers training and professional development for clinical staff
- Provides direct clinical services as needed, including individual/group counseling (personal and career), psychoeducation, assessments, triage, case management, crisis intervention, and referrals
- Plans and delivers outreach, training, and wellness programs for faculty, staff, and students
- Assists the Director in departmental planning, administration, management, and evaluation, reviews, and updates departmental policies and procedures to ensures compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional guideline
- Assists with the coordination and configuration of the electronic health record (EHR) system and utilizes the electronic health record (EHR) system and other LSC platforms to chart, manage referrals and document student progress
- May provide consultation and training to the broader community
- Oversees and conducts chart reviews and implements feedback to ensure quality care
- Serves as departmental representative in collaboration and consultation with faculty, staff, students, and parents
- Coordinates and provides after-hours and on-call clinical coverage and responds to campus crises, including occasional after-hours support for outreach and intervention
- Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong leadership, administrative, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of clinical operations, documentation, and mental health service delivery
- Skilled in psychotherapy (individual, couples, group), intake and risk assessment, and crisis intervention
- Experience supervising and training clinical staff and interns
- Effective in delivering workshops, presentations, and outreach
- Understanding of college student development, collegiate mental health, and multicultural issues
- Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards in clinical practice
- Ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to campus initiatives
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:
Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree and at least 7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
LPC-S, LCSW-S, LP, LPA-I, or LMFT-S
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctoral degree
At least 5 years management level experience in any setting
At least 5 years of experience in a higher education setting
Salary
Hiring salary range is $77,356-$88,960
Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
