Manager, Network Services
Job Description Summary
The Manager, Network Services is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of the College's network, server, and cloud infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing IT services that support teaching, learning, and administrative functions across all college locations. This position supervises and develops a team of network and systems administrators, manages related projects and budgets, ensures compliance with security and regulatory standards, and oversees vendor relationships and service agreements. The Manager plays a key role in technology planning, policy development, and operational execution.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science, information technology, or a related field required.
- 5 to 7 years of experience with network and server administration, networking protocols, technologies and security best practices, Windows Server and Linux sever operating systems and virtualization technologies required.
- 4 years of experience in a technology management or team leadership role required.
- ITIL or COBIT Certifications highly desirable.
Job Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds, including servers, switches, and other network hardware.
- Ability to perform work in confined spaces, wiring closets, and under desks as needed for equipment installation and maintenance.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights to access cabling and network infrastructure.
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer workstation.
- Dexterity to operate tools and equipment, including hand tools, cable testers, and diagnostic devices.
- Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues related to networking and server infrastructure.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must be available to respond to emergency calls and critical network outages on an on-call basis, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Availability to perform system upgrades, maintenance, and project work during non-business hours (early mornings, evenings, or weekends) to minimize disruption to college operations.
- May be required to work extended hours during system rollouts, outages, or high-priority initiatives.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
- A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
