Job Description:

Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000

Binghamton University seeks an experienced Manager of Content and Data Curation to work within the Division of Communications and Marketing. The Manager of Content and Data Curation is responsible for overseeing the collection, organization, tagging, and governance of institutional content and data used to train and support AI-powered systems that serve external audiences. The goal of this work is to ensure Binghamton University's AI tools including chatbots, virtual assistants, and intelligent search platforms deliver accurate, consistent, and accessible information to prospective students, alumni, and the public.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and optimize AI training data pipelines
  • Tag and organize large sets of content using metadata best practices
  • Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure content quality and compliance
  • Audit and improve AI-driven user interactions (e.g., chatbot Q&A accuracy)
  • Serve as point-of-contact for content-related AI governance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in information science, data management, computer science, library science or a related field
  • At least one year experience in managing structured data (such as spreadsheets, databases, or CMS content)

Preferred:

  • Experience implementing or maintaining a metadata tagging system
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on digital content, data quality, or AI implementation initiatives
  • Experience working with content intended for AI-powered tools such as chatbots, virtual assistants, or intelligent search platforms
  • Experience developing or following data governance policies in a professional setting
  • Experience working in a higher education or academic institution
  • Familiarity with the basics of artificial intelligence or machine learning concepts
