The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) serves as a bridge between the HKUST research community and industry, creating collaboration and innovation from the university research outcomes and capabilities. OKT manages inventions and intellectual properties of HKUST, formulates strategic commercialization plans, identifies potential collaborators with faculty members, and establishes commercialization projects with industry partners. OKT is looking for a suitable appointee for the position of manager. The appointee will be responsible for operations to foster knowledge transfer endeavors of Joint Research Institute(s), which are managed by OKT.

Reporting to the head (Translational Project Team) and working closely with HKUST research communities, the appointee will have the following major responsibilities:

Responsible for various project development, managing and liaison to the sponsor and project team;

Planning and organizing events such as partnership workshops, seminars, and related activities;

Support preparation of collaboration agreements, budget, operation guidelines, annual reports, and other documents to facilitate effective Joint Research Institutes, and/or Collaboration Innovation Centers;

Liaise with internal stakeholders, external industry partners and sponsors to initiate research and development projects;

Support the strategic planning, implementation, and governance of knowledge transfer operations;

Provide secretariat services to various committees and meetings; and

Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification working experience. Previous experience in project management, organization of campus events and/or research projects in an education institution will be an advantage. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and a familiarity with a government or university setting and university-industry collaboration. The appointee must have an excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua). High proficiency in computer and MS Office applications, numerical accuracy and attention to details are necessary. A service-oriented mindset and the ability to work both independently and in a team are essential. He/she should be mature, self-motivated, good at multi-tasking and with good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. He/she should also be able to deal with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Ad-hoc travels may be required.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
