Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Compliance,
Audit, Risk, Environmental and Safety, provides strategic
leadership, oversight, and administration of the university's
comprehensive risk management, environmental health and safety,
emergency management, business continuity, and insurance programs.
Responsible for regulatory compliance, program development, policy
implementation, departmental leadership, and enterprise risk
mitigation efforts across the institution.
This is an in-office position located on Tarleton State’s main
campus in Stephenville, Texas.
Schedule & Availability: The standard working hours for this
position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However,
occasional evening and weekend hours will be required to provide
hands-on support for university events and campus programming.
Serves as Campus Security Authority
Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Compliance Oversight
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve
university-wide risk management and safety programs.
Interpret and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state,
Texas A&M University System, and university regulations and
requirements.
Establish departmental goals, priorities, policies, procedures,
and performance measures.
Lead compliance reviews, corrective action initiatives, and
enterprise risk mitigation efforts.
Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and implement
program modifications as necessary.
Environmental Health and Safety Management
- Direct environmental health and safety programs including
hazardous waste management, asbestos management, lead-based paint
compliance, chemical safety, industrial hygiene, and indoor air
quality.
- Provide oversight and guidance for environmental and
safety-related projects including renovations, fire protection
systems, and remediation activities.
- Manage external audits, assessments, and inspections conducted
by regulatory agencies and consultants.
Emergency Management and Business Continuity
- Maintain and oversee the university Emergency Operations Plan
and Incident Action Plans.
- Serve as the primary institutional liaison with emergency
response agencies, governmental entities, and Texas A&M
University System partners.
- Direct emergency preparedness, business continuity, and
disaster recovery planning efforts.
- Provide leadership and coordination during emergency incidents
and continuity events.
Risk Management and Insurance Administration
- Direct insurance strategy, procurement, claims administration,
and coordination with Texas A&M University System Risk
Management.
- Evaluate institutional risks and recommend appropriate risk
financing and insurance solutions.
- Review major risk exposures, claims trends, and loss prevention
opportunities.
- Oversee enterprise risk assessments and recommend mitigation
strategies.
Department Leadership
- Supervise departmental personnel and direct departmental
operations.
- Establish work priorities, allocate resources, and evaluate
staff performance.
- Provide guidance and leadership for safety, risk, and
compliance initiatives across the university.
- Represent the department on institutional committees and
strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety,
Environmental Science, Business Administration, Public
Administration, Emergency Management, or other applicable
field.
- Five years of related experience in administration, program
management, risk and compliance or related field
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Salary Range:
The target base annual salary range is $53,745 up to $76,321 and
may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate
experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this
position.
