About the Role:  

  

Curtin University offers an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Scholarships to lead a key function within the University’s central Student Services. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to a team responsible for the administration and disbursement of all undergraduate and postgraduate coursework scholarships, serving as the University’s central point of expertise in this area.

  

You will play a critical role in shaping and delivering high-quality student services, driving strategic planning and overseeing policies, systems, and business processes to ensure efficient, compliant, and student-focused outcomes. This position is integral to enhancing service delivery and supporting the University’s broader student experience objectives.

  

This is a full time, fixed term contract until 02 October 2026, with a salary range between $138,681 - $146,497 (G09), plus 17% superannuation and other generous entitlements.

  

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Lead and manage the operations of the Unit while providing strategic direction and support for best practices in administrative processes.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring effective service delivery and collaboration with University service groups.
  • Monitor and improve policies and procedures, facilitating continuous improvement and compliance with University standards.
  • Develop plans for risk management and enhance student administration processes, while ensuring quality customer service and performance standards.
  • Provide guidance and management for staff through recruitment, induction, and performance evaluation, and maintain effective communication within the unit.
  • Build strategic relationships with stakeholders and represent the Director in various committees and working parties.
  • Analyse data for reporting purposes, manage budgets, and oversee scholarship programs aligned with the University’s strategic goals.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria): 

  • Completion of a relevant tertiary qualification and/or extensive leadership experience, with proven management expertise in complex organisational environments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing teams, including setting strategic direction, change management, and delivering organisational outcomes through effective planning and resource management.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate processes, policies, and procedures, apply sound judgement, and drive continuous improvement within evolving legislative frameworks.
  • Highly developed leadership skills, with the ability to build, motivate, and sustain high-performing, customer-focused teams and foster a positive team culture.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and build productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications and database applications, including previous experience using an electronic student data management system.

Desirable:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate coursework scholarships
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the tertiary education sector.

Role Requirements:

  1. As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
