Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a Manager, Service Management Office to join Digital Business Solutions, Administrative Division.
The Manager – Service Management Office (SMO) is responsible for providing leadership and guidance across the organisation on service management and ITIL best practices to ensure effective, reliable, and efficient IT Services are delivered. This role manages a team of Practice Leads across numerous verticals and take ownership for QUTs ITSM platform. This role works alongside integrated and supportive management team that works collaboratively to continuously improve DBS as part of the ongoing Digital Transformation program. This role plays a leading role in ensuring DBS digital services are embedded in a sustainable manner with the requisite ownership, service targets, support services, vendor information and recovery plans. This position reports to the Associate Director – Client Technology for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

Digital Business Solutions is responsible for a wide range of services in delivering and supporting digital solutions for QUT. DBS comprises seven business units with dynamic knowledge and expertise that work collectively with the University’s Faculties, Institutes and Divisions to provide quality Digital Solutions and Services in support of both QUT’s Strategic Objectives and in core operations for learning and teaching, research and innovation and professional services..
What you need to succeed
- Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology with extensive relevant experience.
- Proven experience in developing and leading a service management strategy and function in a complex environment.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of ITIL practices and standards.
- Demonstrated experience managing ITSM tools and platforms.
- Proven exceptional leadership, management and mentoring skills to effectively lead a team to introduce and implement service management principles and standards across a large organisation.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain productive and collaborative working relationships, including the ability to develop and present concepts and negotiate with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to collaborate with and guide managers, technical, and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
