Job Description
- Conduct preliminary review of research protocols submitted to the IRB and ensure these submitted protocols are reviewed efficiently and are consistent with the relevant regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Conduct review of protocol amendment, annual continuing review and matters of non-compliance of approved ongoing research protocols.
- Attend full board meetings, accurately record member attendance and meeting outcomes, and proactively communicate results and feedback to Principal Investigators (PIs).
- Maintain specialized knowledge of social and behavioural research protocols, as well as Human Biomedical Research Act-related IRB protocols, providing expert guidance to research teams.
- Develop and sustain strategic relationships with external regulatory authorities and IRBs both locally (e.g., PDPC, MOH) and internationally, ensuring compliance and knowledge-sharing best practices.
- Preserve, organize, and maintain comprehensive documentation of IRB proposals, meetings, and training activities, while effectively managing IRB data and departmental records.
- Responsible for all conflict resolutions including, but not limited to, principal investigators, members of the board, chair(s), and any additional faculty, staff, or student participating in human research.
- As IRB Department Office Manager, the job holder manages the end-to-end procurement and vendor management, asset lifecycle management, training administration, managing supplies, and financial administration for the department.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute institutional events, managing scheduling, logistics, communications, and post-event follow-up to ensure smooth delivery and positive stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferably in social sciences or legal disciplines.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in human research protection programs, research ethics, or reviewing studies involving human participants; hands-on experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, ethical standards, and best practices governing research involving human participants.
- Able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to multitask.
- Possess strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills in order to manage cross functional, institutional relationships.
- Able to work independently and effectively as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of MS office applications.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is a requirement for this role as the candidate is expected to engage with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.
- Skilled in video editing, with the ability to produce high-quality content for institutional or educational purposes.
