About the Role:
The Manual Machinist plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by precisely fabricating metal parts and components using manual machine tools. This position requires a deep understanding of machining techniques, blueprints, and specifications to produce high-quality, accurate parts that meet strict tolerances. The Manual Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining lathes, mills, grinders, and other manual machines to shape and finish materials. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to ensure both product quality and workplace safety. Ultimately, this role contributes directly to the efficiency and success of production operations by delivering expertly crafted components on schedule.

This role is 100% in office at our plant in East Hartford, CT.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a manual machinist or in a similar machining role.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using manual machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Strong understanding of machining measurements and precision instruments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or vocational training in machining.
- Experience with CNC machines and programming is beneficial but not required.
- Familiarity with metallurgy and material properties.
- Knowledge of quality control standards such as ISO or ASME.
- Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret and analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
- Set up and operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate parts.
- Measure and inspect finished products using precision instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances.
- Maintain and adjust machines to optimize performance and prevent defects or downtime.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records of production and maintenance activities.

The Manual Machinist utilizes technical skills daily to interpret complex blueprints and translate them into precise machined parts. Proficiency with manual machine tools allows the machinist to set up and operate equipment efficiently, ensuring parts meet exact specifications.
