The proposed research area focuses on the use of advanced data-driven and artificial intelligence methods to address challenges related to road safety, sustainable mobility and transport systems. Candidates will be encouraged to develop an original and innovative research proposal aligned with their expertise and with the broader research interests of the host.
Malta provides an interesting living laboratory for investigating transport challenges within a dense, small-island and urban environment. Opportunities exist to work with and integrate different sources of transport, mobility, environmental, socioeconomic and geospatial data.
The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in engineering, transport, computer science, data science, applied mathematics or a related discipline, with experience in quantitative modelling, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, optimisation, GIS or transport analysis. Strong programming and analytical skills would be advantageous.
The selected candidate will work with researchers at the University of Malta to jointly develop the MSCA-PF proposal, including the research methodology, training programme, impact pathway, dissemination strategy and career-development plan.
