About the Research Fellow Role (Level B)
The Marion McCormack Research Fellow will contribute to ground-breaking research in the early detection of ovarian cancer within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI). The position will be based in the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer. Working under the guidance of the Cancer Impact Program Co-Director, the Fellow will lead research projects, foster collaborations, and build a strong academic profile through publications, presentations, and student supervision. This role is supported by Flinders Foundation in recognition of Marion (Bill) McCormack and the McCormack family.
- Conduct innovative research focused on early detection of ovarian cancer.
- Develop, implement, and manage research projects with support.
- Publish high-quality research, present at conferences, and supervise HDR and Honours students.
- Prepare competitive funding applications to establish an independent research program.
About You
You will bring a strong academic background and proven research expertise to this role. Your ability to deliver high-quality outcomes, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly will set you apart.
- PhD and postdoctoral experience in cancer research or a related field.
- Track record of publications, grant success, and presentations at national/international level.
- Skilled in qualitative and quantitative research methods, with experience delivering projects on time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders.
About the Senior Research Fellow Role (Level C)
The Marion McCormack Senior Research Fellow will lead innovative research into the early detection of ovarian cancer within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI). The position will be based in the Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer. This role will drive the development and management of research projects, secure competitive grants, and expand the College’s research impact. The Fellow will build a national and international reputation through high-quality publications, strong collaborations, and strategic contributions to cancer research.
- Lead research projects focused on early detection of ovarian cancer and deliver new capabilities leveraging FHMRI resources.
- Secure external competitive grants and contribute to the College’s strategic research objectives.
- Publish high-quality research, present at conferences, and establish strong national and international collaborations.
- Provide technical expertise and actively share knowledge with other researchers at Flinders.
About You
You are an accomplished researcher with deep expertise in cancer research and a proven ability to lead projects and collaborations. Your strong academic record, leadership skills, and vision for independent research will drive success in this role.
- PhD (or equivalent) in cancer research or related field, with significant postdoctoral experience.
- Outstanding research track record, including sustained high-quality publications and competitive grant success.
- Experience supervising Honours and higher degree students to completion and mentoring junior staff.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborations across academia, industry and government, nationally and internationally.
