Job Description:
Summary:
This position offers an excellent opportunity to assist the office
in preparing undergraduate and graduate students for nationally
competitive scholarships while gaining exposure to scholarship
opportunities. General duties include administrative work, creating
marketing communication and social media posts regarding
opportunities and success stories, assisting with event planning,
and other basic office duties and projects as needed. This is a
great opportunity for a detail-oriented student with strong
research, writing, and editing skills who plans to apply for
competitive scholarships in the future.
Career skills that you can learn and practice in this position
include: written and oral communication and critical
thinking.
Essential Functions:
- Administrative work.
- Creating marketing communication and social media posts
regarding opportunities and success stories.
Assisting with event planning, and other basic office duties
and projects as needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 10 hours per week.
Salary Range:
- $18.40 - $19.00 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be an enrolled AU student.
- Strong organizational skills, mature and professional demeanor,
exceptional written and verbal communication skills, unwavering
attention to detail, familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva
and Outlook; experience with databases a plus, professional
interest in marketing or writing desirable.
Preferred Education and Experience::
- The ideal candidate is technologically-savvy, has experience
creating successful marketing materials, has strong attention to
detail, and enjoys administrative tasks.
- The ability to work independently to complete designated
assignments and demonstrate strong writing skills is
essential.
- Students with office experience preferred.
- Sophomore or above standing preferred.

- Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
- The Office of Merit Awards is part of AU's Career Center, which
is a bustling office full of opportunity for part-time student
