  • Full-time, fixed-term role until December 2027, based in Auckland CBD

AUT’s Brand and Marketing Services team leads the university’s brand stewardship and marketing strategy. We deliver coordinated, insight‑driven campaigns and communications that strengthen AUT’s reputation and support student recruitment, engagement and long‑term connection. Working closely with faculties and professional services across the university, the team brings together insight, creativity and digital skills to deliver consistent experiences tailored to the needs of our audiences – from first enquiry through to enrolment, graduation and beyond.

Are you passionate about using technology, data, and creativity to deliver impactful marketing experiences? Join AUT’s Brand and Marketing Services team as a Marketing Automation Specialist, where your work will shape real student journeys, from initial interest through to alumni engagement and everything in between.

In this role, you’ll optimise AUT’s marketing automation platform (Marketo), ensuring campaigns and workflows deliver exceptional customer experiences. You’ll design and execute multi-touch campaigns, analyse performance, and drive continuous improvement across the customer lifecycle. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine technical expertise with strategic thinking in a collaborative, future-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities | Nga haepapa matua

  • Manage and optimise AUT’s marketing automation platform (Marketo), including templates, segmentation, and lifecycle workflows.
  • Design, build, and deploy engaging email campaigns, ensuring responsive design, A/B testing, and flawless execution.
  • Analyse campaign performance and platform data, providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, collaborating across teams to align campaigns with business objectives and deliver shared outcomes.
  • Support your team through training, documentation, and knowledge sharing, helping build capability and best practice across the organisation.

About you | Ko wai koe

We’re looking for someone who is both analytical and creative, with a strong understanding of digital marketing and automation. You’ve built and optimised email campaigns from scratch, managed complex workflows, and used data to drive smarter decisions. You’re confident owning projects end-to-end and influencing stakeholders to deliver measurable results.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in digital marketing and campaign management (2+ years), ideally with marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo)
  • Hands-on expertise designing and deploying multi-touch campaigns, including segmentation, A/B testing, and optimisation
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, report on performance, and recommend improvements that drive engagement
  • Technical confidence with marketing automation tools, CRM environments, and data hygiene best practices
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Higher education experience is desirable but not essential
  • Marketo certification is desirable but not essential
  • Experience with specific CRM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics) is desirable but not essential
