Marketing Communications Specialist for Life-Changing Education
The Marsal Family School of Education is looking for a Marketing Communications Specialist that will support and amplify its work on Life-Changing Education, the Presidential Initiative for the 2025-2026 academic year, and explore what makes learning transformative.

- Manage all content related to the LCE initiative, including planning, researching, writing and editing content for news items, events, social media, websites, email campaigns, newsletters, faculty and staff profiles, short video clips, and other projects as assigned. Ensure brand standards and accessibility across platforms and rapid response to inquiries.
- Develop content and distribute LCE e-newsletters for internal and external audiences using Mailchimp.
- Work closely with the Marsal School Marketing & Communications team to manage social media assets, assure brand standards, and maintain a content calendar to meet publication deadlines for the LCE initiative.
- Contribute to the planning, management and execution of events and programming, (in-person, hybrid, and virtual) related to the LCE initiative. This includes setting up the backend of online/hybrid events, moderating audience participation for live streamed events, promoting events, creating materials, and coordinating photography and videography.
- Develop and manage graphic designs for LCE communications and events.
- Draft and coordinate content and event updates on the LCE website, and keep the website updated.
- Find internal and external opportunities to amplify faculty research in education.
Oversee and manage specialized communications activities, which may include:
- Tracking analytics and newsletter metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness.
- Partnering with the Office of the Vice President for Communications to manage media inquiries and secure coverage.
- Ensuring accessibility compliance and inclusive communication practices.
- Archiving communications materials and media coverage to support research integration and institutional learning.
Strengthen alignment with Marsal School Communications by:
- Serving as a liaison between LCE and Marsal to ensure consistency of messaging, design, and brand positioning across both the initiative and the school.
- Coordinating with Marsal communications staff to amplify LCE content through existing Marsal channels (e.g., newsletters, social media, website features) when appropriate.
- Sharing stories, media assets, and research highlights generated by LCE that can elevate Marsal's broader communications priorities, particularly around faculty scholarship and student impact.
- Contributing to Marsal's communications capacity by drafting features or supporting coverage that bridges LCE programming with the school's identity and strategic priorities.
- Supporting Marsal's efforts to build institutional reputation by aligning LCE storytelling with school-wide campaigns and external-facing narratives.
- Acting as a connective point to ensure that both units benefit from shared analytics, design resources, and media opportunities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1+ years of professional experience writing, designing marketing materials and copy editing, with demonstrated commitment to attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional experience website content platforms.
- Experience adapting messages for multiple media platforms (e.g. websites, social media, newsletters).
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with content management and email systems (e.g. Mailchimp), graphic design software (i.e. Adobe Creative Suite), and current digital marketing technologies.
This is a two year term-limited appointment with the potential for extension, contingent upon university strategic priorities. This position will be expected to work in the office 3 days/week.
