Marketing Manager - Leavitt School of Health
Job Description
The Marketing Manager for the Leavitt School of Health (WGU Academy products) is responsible for the execution of marketing strategies that support brand development, new student growth, and other priorities for their assigned academic college.
Among the Manager's responsibilities is launching audience and offering messages and growth strategies that are college-specific (i.e., "product marketing"). The Manager will work with the Senior Director to understand internal and external factors that affect college performance including the evolving portfolio of academic course and program offerings, industry associations and employer partnerships, target audiences, market demand trends, and competitor behavior.
The Manager works in daily partnership with associate deans and program chairs within their assigned college to understand program goals and targets, develop campaigns and placements to support program strategies, execute on college-specific initiatives, and report on results. The Manager will spend more time interfacing and collaborating with members of the Marketing team and must build trust and wield strong influence within the organization.
This role requires a driving action through influence vs. direct authority, as well as fluency in various marketing disciplines, including brand, traditional and digital media, SEO, content marketing, conference and event marketing, and more.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Manage new college-specific campaigns and strategies to support college goals, from helping director on strategy brief creation through to delivery of final creative
- Manage new product launch and product redevelopment process, including development of new creative and launch of program-specific initiatives
- Help develop annual college marketing strategy, including goals with measurable KPIs, audiences, and messaging for brand/paid media, content, and partnerships. Help track campaigns, launches, and follow up across strategy.
- Understand college target forecasts, monthly adjustments, and strategies/tactics for hitting targets. Help launch specific tactics and initiatives to drive growth.
- Build relationships of trust with college program cluster teams - academic deans and program chairs
- Understand and stay up on external and internal factors influencing college performance. Read industry publications and news to understand our students and prospects and the industry the college serves.
- Translate college strategy into tactical execution by working with the college director to understand goals and audiences.
- Research new audience targeting, industry publications, industry groups and associations, and other program level marketing opportunities
- Work closely with the internal and agency creative teams to ensure that creative requests are accurate, on time, and on brand
- Research strategic program and audience media placements, develop plans and budgets, manage creative requests and production.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and meeting deadlines.
- Clearly and persuasively communicate both verbally and in writing with staff and peers.
- Strong quantitative and strategic analysis skills.
- Understanding of a wide variety of marketing disciplines, including traditional and digital media, SEO, content marketing, and conference and event marketing.
- Exceptional project management and organization skills.

Responsible for managing projects involving delegation of work and review of others' work products. Demonstrates the WGU leadership principles in all aspects of service to students, employees, and partners of WGU.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field; Five (5) years of related marketing experience; Ability to work in the Salt Lake City, UT office up to 5 days per week based on business needs.
Preferred Qualifications: Client-facing agency experience; Industry experience in higher education and/or areas relevant to WGU colleges (e.g., healthcare, K12 education, IT).
Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
