WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
Department of Information Studies and Librarianship is looking for an assistant or professional assistant to strengthen teaching and participate in the department's research and project activities. The role combines design approaches with information services. The focus of the position is on teaching, supervising final theses, and student development; it also includes collaboration on research, publications, and dissemination of results.
The candidate should develop one or more specializations, such as:
- design thinking and design methods in practice
- design research (Research through Design, participatory approaches, living labs)
- interaction design and digital interface design
- service design and innovation in public or community contexts
- inclusive design and accessibility
- instructional design and educational experience design
- design ethics, critical and speculative approaches
- service design in practice and public or community contexts: design in relation to misinformation and information resilience, design in relation to artificial intelligence and its impacts, design in relation to health and sustainability.
MAIN JOB CONTENT
- Participate in teaching in the areas of design, research, and evaluation (seminars, exercises, workshops) and continuously develop the content and forms of teaching.
- Supervise and consult on final theses (Bachelor's/Master's), provide methodological support, and help students translate their ideas into high-quality research and design.
- Collaborate on the department's research and development projects, participate in publications and the preparation of professional outputs.
- Apply participatory and facilitative approaches in working with students and external partners, lead workshops, and support joint validation of designs.
- Contribute to the dissemination of results in the form of conference contributions, methodological materials, and popularization activities.
WE REQUEST
Professional education, qualifications and experience
- Completed master's degree in related fields such as information studies, design, HCI, education, social sciences, computer science, etc. – required
- Completed or ongoing Ph.D. doctoral program – preferred
- International profile – advantage (for example research results, internship)
Other knowledge and skills
- Experience with leading student projects, mentoring, or supervising research – advantage
- Experience with applied projects with partners outside academia and with participatory/living lab approaches – advantage
- Experience in data analysis (e.g., behavioral metrics, experiments) or prototyping and evaluation – an advantage in 3D/VR/XR.
- Advanced ability to apply AI tools in the design process. – advantage
Language skills
- English language skills at least at B2 level.
- Excellent knowledge of the Czech language in both written and spoken.
Requirements related to job content
- Demonstrable expertise in at least one specialist area and the ability to transfer this expertise to teaching and student supervision.
- Experience with research methods and evaluation, ability to design procedures, work with data, and present conclusions in a comprehensible manner.
- Teaching and facilitation skills, ability to structure teaching and provide constructive feedback.
- Independence, reliability, good organizational skills, and willingness to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment.
