Mass Communications & Broadcasting Instructor - Project Forward Program - Cape Cod Community College
General Statement of Responsibilities
The Mass Communications and Broadcasting Instructor will provide hands-on training and instruction to intellectually disabled adults enrolled in the Project Forward vocational program. This position will focus on developing soft skills related to communication including interpersonal, group, and public communication skills. The Instructor will design and deliver curriculum-based lessons around developing Word and email skills, producing and delivering podcasts, basic camera skills and appropriate communication behaviors. This is a part-time position, including 9 hours/week (6 hours of instruction/3 hours prep time) for the Fall semester and 18 hours/week (12 hours of instruction/6 hours prep time) for the Spring semester.
Examples of Duties
- Teach students about the history of communication, including FCC rules, etc.
- Teach students about appropriate communication skills, including eye contact, tone of voice, body language and non-verbal communication.
- Teach students the fundamentals of radio broadcasting, podcasting and production.
- Teach students video pre-production skills and how to operate an HD video camera, performing basic moves and compositions.
- Teach students Microsoft Office skills including making flyers, answering email and developing outlines.
- Teach students how to write and deliver a speech/PSA.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong experience with radio, podcasting, video production, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player with students and Project Forward staff.
- Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer skills (Microsoft Office), including typing, storing/retrieving computer files, completing an online timesheet, tutorials, etc.
- Ability to perform physical/hands on work.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
One year of experience working with or teaching individuals with special needs.
Additional Information
Compensation: $35.31/hour for up to 18 hours/week (including instruction and preparation time) Part-time, non-benefited, MCCC Unit position.
