Position Summary
The Master of Arts in Psychology
Program Director is a tenure-track faculty position. This is a 12-month position with a teaching load of 24 credits, though there will be
release time to perform the duties of the Director. The Director's main responsibilities are to oversee, hire qualified adjunct faculty, and
continually assess the Master of Arts in Psychology Program. The person in this position will oversee academic quality, advise and assist
faculty members and students and promote enrollment growth within the MAP Program. The Director will be responsible for: the oversight and
evaluation of faculty, both full-time and adjunct; the oversight and development of curriculum; and the planning and promotion of the
program. The Director will also be responsible for all administrative tasks and duties within of the program as required by the University
and will report directly to the Chief Academic Officer.
Position Responsibilities
Faculty and Student
Oversight
- Hire, oversee, and supervise adjunct faculty members of the program.
- Hold regular program meetings to
discuss issues and policies within the program. - Maintain credential templates used as a guideline for hiring adjunct
faculty. - Serve as mentor to full-time faculty members, adjunct faculty members, and especially to new faculty members in the
program. - Monitor and review course syllabi of adjunct faculty members, teaching courses in the program. Ensure syllabi adhere to
established guidelines. Provide feedback and assistance to adjunct faculty members as appropriate. - Review end-of-course evaluations
of adjunct faculty members and provide corrective action as appropriate. - Attend to student complaints. Resolve and mediate course
management and other issues between students and faculty.
Administrative Oversight
- Maintain a thorough
knowledge of policies and procedures of the university, whether in terms of the Fayette campus or online, as needed. - Develop and
maintain knowledge and usage of Jenzabar's SIS portal system and other appropriate information technology. - Create and maintain
course schedules for the program. - Determine faculty to teach scheduled course sections.
- Department chair (if any) for the
program, revising as needed. - Maintain and oversee all budgets for the program.
- Oversee the textbook selection process for
the program, evaluate new textbook recommendations, and create consensus among program members on textbook issues. - Oversee and
maintain assessment plans for the program. - Coordinate and evaluate transfer credits of incoming students, as needed.
- Review
graduate student qualifications for admission.
Curriculum Oversight and Development
- Design, and review
on a regular basis, all curricula within the program. - Provide guidance and assistance as needed to faculty members developing and
revising courses. - Oversee assessment of courses within the program and ensure that data from assessment procedures are used to
maintain and/or support change within curricula. - Serve as a liaison, when needed, to the university-wide Curriculum Committee in
support of proposals and changes coming from the program.
Planning and Promotion
- Market and grow the
program by developing relationships with admissions and within the program fields. - Promote and develop relationships with other
institutions, via articulation agreements, to enhance the program and increase enrollment in specific courses and the program as a
whole.
Required Qualifications
- Ph. D. in Psychology or related field at the time of hire is
expected
