Materials Assistant
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The Student and Scholarly Services Division is seeking a proactive and detail-focused Materials Assistant to join the Content Fulfilment and Operations team based at the On-Demand Collection, our off-campus library collections storage facility.
In this role, you’ll help ensure students and researchers have timely access to scholarly content by processing materials requests, digitising content, maintaining copyright compliance, and supporting the delivery of physical and digital resources. The position also involves liaising with other teams and library users, monitoring support channels, and resolving issues related to resource access.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring the appropriate condition, accommodation, and transport of physical collections held at the On-Demand Collection in East Tāmaki. You’ll also be supporting library collections projects and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on access services, collection storage, and workflows.
This is a full-time permanent role (37.5 hours per week).
The primary location of this role is at the On-Demand Collection at East Tāmaki.
The salary for this role is $55,634 - $60,500 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

The role will suit a team player with strong attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills as well as a reasonable level of physical fitness. Ideally you will possess:
- A working familiarity with Microsoft Office as well as the ability to learn new systems, software and procedures quickly in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work accurately with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Experience working with library collections, library management systems, or warehouse operations.
- Ability to lift boxes and work at height (ladders).
