Job Summary

The Math Center Tutor provides academic support to students in mathematics courses. Tutors assist students in understanding mathematical concepts, solving problems, and improving performance in courses such as College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Essential Job Functions

• Provide one-on-one or group tutoring sessions
• Explain mathematical concepts clearly and adapt explanations to students’ learning styles
• Assist with homework, test preparation, and study strategies
• Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving
• Maintain a positive, professional learning environment
• Track student attendance and progress, reporting concerns to the Math Center Coordinator
• Attend tutor training sessions and staff meetings

Qualifications

• Strong academic performance in mathematics courses
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy, and ability to motivate students
• Reliable, professional, and able to work flexible hours
