Math Instructor
Provide leadership in the development and evaluation of various components of the curriculum. Teaches on-campus and on-line courses, supervises, and evaluates students in the classroom; assists with academic advising by holding regular conferences with student advisees; evaluates students’ progress; attempts to develop the potentialities of each student; keeps accurate records and submits pertinent information on students; participates in faculty meetings and attends college functions; remains active in organizations and attends workshops and other educational offerings in order to continue to upgrade teaching abilities and skills; follows institutional policies, procedures and line authority; assists in special projects.
Job Functions:
- Provide high quality instruction, teach courses as assigned, provide students with course documentation, demonstrate effective interaction skills, relate instruction/materials to course objectives, develop creative class activities, use various teaching techniques, and organize instruction.
- Provide academic advising, assist with recruitment, develop and implement successful retention activities, assist in graduate placement, assist in student orientation/registration, provide appropriate safety instruction.
- Manage classroom/lab, clinic activities in an orderly manner, hold 8 office hours per week, submit all required reports in a timely manner, prepare budget projections for equipment and supplies, and practice good housekeeping, repair equipment as appropriate.
- Design new programs, revise curricula, develop new courses, develop and revise instructional materials for current courses, participate in advisory committees.
- Work on college committees, perform public service for the college, supervise/chaperone student events, promote the purpose and institutional objections of the college, and build rapport with employers of graduates.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
Doctorate or master's degree in the teaching discipline or master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline).
Preferred Qualifications:
The minimum as listed. Prefer experience using online management software, to include ALEKS and MyMathLab; proficient with graphing calculator, Microsoft Office, web conferencing, virtual learning, Notebook software, etc.
