Media Arts Instructor - Part-time Adjunct Pool

Basic Function: Kern Community College District accepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years.

Kern Community College District is soliciting applications for part-time, hourly adjunct instructors.

Representative Duties: This is for an adjunct pool that will be used to staff assignments at various Kern Community College District locations. This assignment may include teaching at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning, and using multiple teaching methodologies. Other duties include maintaining subject matter currency, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multimedia technology, and collegial participation in departmental activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience. Alternatively, the equivalent qualifications may be considered. A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students is required.

Knowledge & Abilities: The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate knowledge in the discipline and abilities such as working effectively with colleagues and students, developing curriculum, participating in recruitment activities, communicating effectively, maintaining subject matter currency, assessing student learning outcomes, knowledge of computers, and commitment to the California community college mission.
